We would like to share the latest edition of the Oide Technology in Education newsletter, which focuses on Safer Internet Day 2026, AI literacy resources, online safety training, webinars, digital citizenship and the latest digital learning supports available to Irish schools.
What you will find in this edition:

Safer Internet Day 2026 - Thousands of young people across Ireland are taking part in activities to promote online safety and digital citizenship. Schools can share their plans and access a wide range of SID2026 events and resources.

Webwise resources for schools and families - New free scripted lessons on generative AI for primary and post‑primary students, plus additional online safety presentations for SID2026. Families can find guidance in the Webwise Parents Hub, including A Parent’s Guide to Generative AI. Schools can also explore SID2026 initiatives such as the stakeholder event, youth ambassador programme and free printed resources.

Online courses - Courses now include digital completion badges. Teachers can access online safety training for SPHE/TY and short cyberbullying courses for primary and post‑primary levels, supporting safe and responsible student behaviour.

Good practice videos - Classroom examples from Holy Cross Mercy School on SID engagement and a showcase of how Chanel College uses generative AI to support teaching and learning.

Webinars for teachers - Sessions on Safer Internet Day (primary/post‑primary), AI guidance for schools (12 February) and Digital Citizenship Champion activities delivered through Education Centres nationwide.

AI in Schools Hub - A dedicated space to access AI resources, guidance and planning supports aligned with SSE and Digital Learning Framework goals.

ICT grants and digital infrastructure funding - Updates on the €65 million investment in digital learning and minor works, including €35 million now being provided for ICT infrastructure across Irish schools.

Scoilnet resources for Safer Internet Day - Ready‑to‑use lessons and activities on online safety, cyberbullying, algorithms and digital media literacy, plus information on Cyberwise for primary pupils.

Professional Learning Experiences (PLEs) - A new one‑day series on Digital Portfolios: A Collaborative Approach continues in Limerick on 11 March 2026, with expressions of interest open until 20 February 2026.
